ALAIN DARBORG is a director and writer active in both television and film. His second feature film, the thriller RED DOT, was Sweden’s first Netflix film and became a huge international success, seen by over 40 million people all over the world. Alain is currently directing ÅREMORDEN for SF Studios and Viaplay.
Alain Darborg started out writing and directing hundreds of short films. But it was his short comedic sketches that hit 10 million views on YouTube and gave him his first professional job in 2008 – directing the cult comedy show MORGONSOFFAN at SVT.
Since then, Alain has directed, written and co-written projects such as the award winning thriller series ALEX (Viaplay), the highly lauded thriller/comedy INCOGNITO (TV4) and the commercially successful feature film DEN PERFEKTA STÖTEN/ THE MASTERPLAN.
Having mastered the art of creating edgy, emotionally affecting thrillers, Alain has also made some engaging and successful comedies. But what has made his recent works so well received and commercially successful is his unique ability to infuse dark and acerbic comedy into the most tense and edgy thrillers. Having grown up in a multi-cultural family, Alain strives to make projects that are not only entertaining, but ones with personal themes, portrayed by diverse, multi-national, multi-ethnic casts that allow for the full panoply of cultural and creative talent to emerge.
Alain has various original projects for both TV and film in different stages of development, alongside working as director/screenwriter for existing projects at some of the biggest film companies / studios, both nationally and internationally. His latest drama series was PARADIS CITY for Prime Video, based on the novel by Jens Lapidus. Alain is currently filming his fourth feature SKURKARNAS SKURK 2 based on the popular book series by IJustWantToBeCool, set to premiere 2026.
