ALEXIS ALMSTRÖM

 
 

ALEXIS ALMSTRÖM is a film director, screenwriter, and musician. He was renowned for writing music before shifting his focus to filmmaking. His debut album "Till Minne av/In Memory of" was nominated for a Grammy and was awarded "Album of the Year" by Swedish popular culture magazine Nöjesguiden.

In 2011, Alexis quit music and focused on filmmaking full-time. He has a BA in film directing from Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts and is the only student to have made a feature film during his studies. He co-wrote and directed the drama film "Rosa Moln/Pink Cloud Syndrome," showcasing his ability to tell gripping and emotional stories and bring out the best performances from his actors.

His first series, "Top Dog," was based on the bestseller by Jens Lapidus and was nominated for "Best Drama Series" in Cannes Series 2020. His second feature film "Vinterviken" for Netflix was nominated for three Guldbaggen awards (Swedish Oscars), including two nominations for best supporting role and one nomination for best lead role. Clinching the award for best supporting role. Jonay Skallak, who had never acted before, was directed by Alexis, and showcased his directing abilities.

The second season of "Top Dog" had premiere 2022, with Alexis as the lead director. He is currently working on his third feature film and several other projects in various stages of development.
