When Stella Robertsson’s headstrong father suffers a heart attack, she is forced to return to her hometown to look after him. There, she is also forced to confront old memories, strained relationships and the grief over what might have been.
One evening, a young woman seeks her out to ask for help. Her father, Erik Hansa, the town’s fierce chief prosecutor, has been missing for six months. The local police have closed the investigation, but perhaps Stella can give it another go? Stella’s career in the police force has rapidly gone downhill, but she cannot resist digging into the case. Did the prosecutor take his own life, or is someone else to blame for his mysterious disappearance? The deeper Stella delves, the greater the danger she puts herself in. She soon realises that the answer to the mystery lies much closer to home than she ever imagined.
The Only Way Home is the concluding instalment in a stylistically driven and visually narrated crime series that explores family relationships. In this homecoming story, Stella Robertsson is forced to confront her past and discover the truth about herself.
