Cozy suspense with a twist
Rut Flood has lost her position as an acclaimed author, and her publishing house no longer wants to invest in her. So, when Axel, a young and hyped publisher, contacts her, Rut takes the chance. His ideas seem a bit unconventional, but what does she have to lose?
The publisher inspires Rut to travel to an isolated writing cabin in the mountains, and once there, she suddenly goes missing. The disappearance turns out to be a significant boost for book sales, and Axel convinces Rut to take it a step further. After a spontaneous flight to India, Rut ends up at Nila Nadi, a family-run guesthouse in Kerala's labyrinthine river delta.
But when the caretaker of the property, Kurt, shows up at a restaurant, something is set in motion that none of them anticipated. The fabricated disappearance soon turns into a real struggle for life and death, and Rut must decide who she can trust. Can she even trust herself?
Dead, Rich and Famous is an intelligent, entertaining, and captivating dark feel-good story depicting the transforming publishing industry. Its pace and warmth are reminiscent of the Netflix hit show Love & Anarchy.
