CAROLINE INGVARSSON

CAROLINE INGVARSSON is an award-winning scriptwriter and director born in Malmö. She comes to filmmaking with an international approach as she has lived, studied and worked overseas. She is educated at Sydney Film School (2006) and holds a Master in Broadcast Journalism from City University, London (2008).

It’s only fitting that her first feature film is a UK/Polish/Swedish production. “Unmoored”, based on Håkan Nessers book, Living and Dead in Winsford, is a psychological drama thriller that is set to have its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival this autumn 2023.

Caroline's approach to filmmaking involves challenging perceptions to reveal diverse facets within stories. She skillfully explores characters' inner thoughts, crafting narratives across genres that forge connections and resonate with audiences on a personal level. Positioned between mainstream and art house, her creations offer a distinct perspective.

Her previous film “Beneath the Spaceship” (2015) was awarded the After Bergman Script Award and premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. The documentary the “Dogwalker” won the audience award at both Palm Spring Short Fest and Uppsala Short Film Festival. Her film “We Were Three” premiered at Tribeca Film Festival (2018) and received the Bonnie Stipendium at Göteborg International film festival. She was selected to take part as one of six female directors for Pure Fiction (2015) as well as Fårö Talents (2015), Berlinale Talents (2015) and received the SWEA Los Angeles film scholarship (2015).

Caroline is currently developing two different feature films, one sci-fi drama inspired by our ecosystem and a relationship drama inspired by her own relationship.

Prior to working as a Director and a scriptwriter, Caroline has been working on set as 1st AD, 2nd AD, Casting Director and Production Coordinator for more than 10 years. She loves the thrill of working on set.
