Alexis Almström

 

Alexis Almström is a film director, screenwriter, and musician. He became known for writing music before shifting his focus to filmmaking. His debut album Till minne av/In Memory Of was nominated for a Swedish Grammis and was named Album of the Year by the Swedish popular culture magazine Nöjesguiden.

In 2011, Alexis left the music industry to focus on filmmaking full-time. He has a BA in film directing from the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts and is the only student to have made a feature film during his studies. He co-wrote and directed the drama film Rosa Moln/Pink Cloud Syndrome, showcasing his ability to tell gripping, emotional stories and to bring out the best performances from his actors.

His first series, Top Dog, was based on the bestseller by Jens Lapidus and was nominated for Best Drama Series in Canneseries 2020. His second feature film Vinterviken for Netflix was nominated for three Guldbaggen awards (Swedish Oscars).

The second season of Top Dog premiered in 2022, with Alexis serving as lead director. He is currently working on his third feature film and several other projects in various stages of development.
