Gustaf Åkerblom

Gustaf Åkerblom is a versatile director who moves seamlessly between genres – from epic adventures and family films to personal comedies and gripping dramas, across both cinema and television. He develops original ideas but is also frequently hired to direct established productions. With a deep appreciation for classic films, his storytelling often carries a nostalgic tone, yet he is also an innovator who enjoys challenging both form and content.

A clear example is his upcoming TV series, which will be the first in Sweden to have over 50% of its content AI-generated – a bold move that reflects his curiosity about new ways of creating. Regardless of format, his work is characterised by strong relatability, human warmth, and a comedic twist. Character direction and performance are especially close to his heart, as evident in his close collaboration with actors and his attentive approach to storytelling.
