FRANCESCA MARAKI

Francesca Maraki is a writer for film and television. Her short film The Liberation of Harold Kvist, which she wrote and produced, was shortlisted for a Swedish Guldbagge Award in 2019. The film was her thesis project at Columbia University’s Master of Fine Arts in Film program where she spent four years studying both screenwriting and producing.

Francesca is currently working as an episode-writer on a long-running crime-drama series on TV4. She was also recently engaged as script consultant on an upcoming drama comedy series for TV4 and Cmore as well as storyline- and episode-writer on one of Sweden’s most popular kids shows The Geographer’s Will on SVT’s Barnkanalen.

Other writing credits include high school drama series Eagles on SVT, nominated for a Kristallen in 2022, as well as Warner Bros. Sweden’s Partisan, Viaplay’s most watched original series and the recipient of the Best Series Prize at Canneseries in 2020.

She loves writing anything on the spectrum from dark dramas to adventure, magical realism and fantasy. She is currently developing an original feature film, and is in early development on several TV-series.

Francesca served as Head of Industry at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2018. She is multi-lingual and is fluent in Swedish, English and Greek.
