Isac Calmroth is a Swedish screenwriter, director, producer, and actor born in Stockholm in 1998. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Idea – Concept, Screenwriting and Project Management from Stockholm University of the Arts, and has established himself as one of the most versatile and daring voices of his generation in Swedish film.
As a screenwriter, Calmroth made a major impact with his bold reimagining of Hjalmar Söderberg’s iconic 1905 novel Doktor Glas (2026). The screenplay, written by Calmroth and directed by Erik Leijonborg, sparked wide cultural debate in Sweden even before its premiere, played a major role in getting audiences back to the cinema in Sweden, and went on to be distributed internationally by REinvent.
Calmroth co-produced Doktor Glas through his company Triangledrama, along with Unlimited Stories, bringing together an acclaimed ensemble and a major studio release backed by SF Studios and the Swedish Film Institute.
On screen, Calmroth has built an impressive body of work across film and television. He headlined Doktor Glas (2026) and starred in the Oscar-nominated The Ugly Stepsister (2025) — nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the 98th Academy Awards — and Evil/Ondskan (2023), among numerous other productions. Most recently, he has also taken to the stage, appearing in Sigge Eklund’s Bolero.
