JOHN NORDLING is a Swedish screenwriter, director and producer. He started his career by creating and producing some of Sweden's most appreciated and iconic TV shows in the late 90s and early 2000s, including "Knesset," "Pentagon," and the long-running talk show "Late Night with Luuk." John has produced a wide range of programs, from grand broadcasts like "Idol" (for which he won a Kristallen-award) to sharp satire like "Swedish News”. Since then, he has built a career focused on humor, darkness, and everything in between.
One of John's most notable works is the Tribeca-winner, European Film Award and BAFTA-nominated film adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's modern and romantic vampire tale, "Let the Right One In" (2009), which he produced. The following year, he continued with the production of the award-winning American version, "Let Me In" (2010), starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Richard Jenkins.
In 2005, John co-created the series "Ulveson & Herngren," a mockumentary following two of Sweden's biggest comedians (and their matching egos) during the making of their sketch comedy show. The show was acquired in 2015 by FX, resulting in the Emmy-nominated series "The Comedians," starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad.
John has also dabbled in the acting business, notably with a role in the 2017 Palme d'Or-winner "The Square."
Recently, John has returned to the director's chair. In the critically acclaimed dark comedy series ”Vi I Villa (We in Villa)” (2022), middle-aged Anders starts harassing his neighbors in an attempt to reconcile with the suffocating norms of the idyllic suburb he lives in. The series showcases Nordling's ability to combine his two areas of expertise: dark, twisted stories and humor.
