MÅRTEN GISBY is a Stockholm-based author, screenwriter, and game writer who graduated from the screenwriting program at Vancouver Film School in 2017. Since then, he has developed feature films and television series for producers in Canada, the United States, and Sweden.

He is also the author of the acclaimed fantasy novel Alba and the Land Beyond (Alba och landet Bortom, Bonnier Carlsen 2021), along with its two sequels. The first book was nominated for both the Swedish Writers’ Union’s debut award Slangbellan and Swedish Radio’s Children’s Book Award. The trilogy is currently ranked 2nd on the Fantasy Council’s list of the best Swedish middle-grade fantasy series of all time.

Over the past three years, Mårten has worked in video games, serving as lead narrative and performance director on the popular VR comedy Gorn 2, as well as the acclaimed narrative VR game Escaping Wonderland. The latter has been praised for its mental health themes, winning Gold Prize for Best Storytelling in VR at the NYX Game Awards, and receiving nominations for Best Immersive Reality Game at both the DICE Awards and the Webby Awards.

Mårten loves a good thriller but doesn’t limit himself by genre or format—happily switching from horror to comedy to gritty crime drama. In Mårten’s work you will find character-driven, fast-paced stories with crisp and clever dialogue and unexpected turns.

Lately, he has been working as a game writer for Mojang Studios, while also developing a dramedy series for a major streaming platform and a new horror feature with funding from the Swedish Film Institute.
