NINA DE GEER

NINA DE GEER is a Stockholm based writer working on a new scenic crime novel series introducing the hard but soft police inspector Defne living in a Stockholm suburb. The first installment will be published by Albert Bonniers Förlag in the spring of 2026.

Nina is a former archaeologist and social worker, two professions influencing her creative work and keen interest to dig deep in the human character and mind.

While still an aspiring author, her podcast ”Debut or die” on literature and creative writing became a popular phenomena and venue for published authors and editors in Sweden.

She made her fiction debut with ”Sommarsorger” (Ordfront Förlag) in 2022. The novel was nominated for the Adlibris prize, and featured in Babel, the Swedish television literature talk show, where it was praised as “a fantastically well written debut novel, that deeply affects the reader”.

Early next year Nina is making her crime debut at Albert Bonnier Förlag with “Få dem att lyda” / “Obey”, the first installment in the Defne-series.

During a cold Walpurgis weekend in Stockholm, four nine-year-old boys vanish without a trace. The solitary and sharp-witted detective Defne Isik is put in charge of the investigation. Ever since her criminal brother Benji disappeared, Defne has buried herself in work, shutting out everything else.

As the strange kidnapping case unfolds, she becomes consumed by it and reluctantly agrees to collaborate with her new partner, Joel Andreasson.

When a startling twist turns the case on its head, it seems, for a moment, that the mystery has been solved. But Defne senses that the police may have been deceived. What happened to the missing boys—and what dark purpose does the kidnapper have for them?
