PETER MODESTIJ

PETER MODESTIJ is a screenwriter and director living in Stockholm. He earned his first screenwriting skills at the Swedish School of Television. After working for Protozoa Pictures and Darren Aronofsky as a reader and assistant in New York, he has been making short films and developing features in Sweden. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Media New Talent Award at the Cannes Film Festival, for his feature film screenplay “The Symbiosis Project”.

The work spans from thinking man’s sci-fi to hardcore political realism and dark teenage drama. Sometimes all of them at the same time. He has an on-going love affair with transcending genre and tough structure analysis. In 2017, Peter Modestij won a Guldbagge with the 60 minutes short feature film “6A” as a writing director. “6A” was also nominated as Best First Feature at the Berlinale Film Festival in 2016 and was part of the Generation 14+ program.

Now, he is currently working as a director and writer on his feature film “SUB” and is collaborating as a co-screenwriter with feminists Ninja Thyberg and Lovisa Sirén on their debut features.
