Lev David
Lev David is a screenwriter. He was raised in South Africa and began writing for newspapers and magazines as an excuse to skip school. Since moving to Oslo, he has mostly concerned himself with mastering the art of idleness without being too much of a burden on society, as well as being a husband and a father. His screenwriting career came about mostly by a happy accident.
Enthusiastic about collaboration and adaptation, Lev is a sought-after untangler of tangles; he is known among producers, directors, and fellow writers for bringing clarity. At ease with the nuts and bolts – good in a pitch, good in a budget meeting – Lev nonetheless believes we should strive for the sublime, that the transcendent is within the reach of our art and craft. He always looks forward to the opportunity to convince young writers of this when he guest lectures at Westerdals and the University of Oslo. Though Lev works across genres and formats, he has a soft spot for stories about family.
Upcoming work includes Enemy, a contemporary series adaptation of Ibsen's An Enemy of the People, directed by Marit Moum Aune for Monster Scripted. He is also writing a series adaptation of a hit narrative podcast for producer Mike Weber and Anonymous Content Nordic. Additionally, Lev is working on Tomtebobarnen (Children of the Forest), a feature film adaptation of Elsa Beskow’s beloved children's book.
