Malin Sohlman Möller is a screenwriter with a broad, yet specific palette. Her main strength is comedy; among her work are episodes of Sweden’s most successful comedy series such as Solsidan and Sjölyckan.

Born into a family of film workers, she started out early, working in various capacities in TV productions. After a few years working with props and make-up, as a First AD and a script supervisor, she left the industry to study criminology and forensic psychology at Stockholm University. She then went on to live in the US for almost ten years – first in New York, where she attended various screenwriting seminars, and then in Los Angeles, where she started to develop her own projects.

Since moving back to Sweden, Malin has been busy working as a screenwriter with several of the major production companies. For a story to amuse Malin, it doesn’t have to be a comedy script. It’s her conviction that comical situations can be found in the most serious moments of life, and this genre-bending writing style is the trademark of Malin’s work.

Her criminology background leaves its mark on her writing and, more often than not, her own projects revolve around the theme of crime and punishment, which she believes is to be found in most social interactions. Overall, her writing is very committed to theme; no matter how light the nature of the project, the theme will show the way for the story.
