Marietta von Hausswolff von Baumgarten has studied cinema and TV in Stockholm (Stockholm University, Sources, North by Northwest) and New York City (Tisch School of the Arts NYU, The New School) and has worked as a screenwriter, playwright, script consultant, director, and creative producer.

After her film education she worked for seven years developing and writing TV series in Scandinavia for companies such as SVT Drama and Pearson Fremantle.

Since 2007, Marietta has been a film and TV script advisor and has worked in countries such as China, Egypt, Russia, Mexico, Burma, Nepal, Mongolia, and Pakistan. The films she has consulted on have won awards at festivals around the world.

With the film Call Girl (2012), Marietta broke new ground in Swedish contemporary cinema. The film is a deep dive into dark social and political secrets, set during a time when Sweden was considered a flawless democracy. The film shattered the image of Sweden as an innocent and just society and became an artistic precursor to the MeToo movement.

Marietta’s latest projects include the feature film Den svenska torpeden, which was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival. She is currently writing her next feature film.
