VERA HERNGREN is a Swedish screenwriter, director and actor.

Vera embodies a passion for storytelling across various media. After graduating from the renowned Biskops Arnö Dramatic Writing course, Vera began her career as Second Assistant Director for hit series such as QUICKSAND/Störst av Allt and BEARTOWN/Björnstad. Simultaneously, she directed commercials for well-known brands like Il Barone, Johnny’s senap, and Hallands Region.

Vera is perhaps best known for co-creating, headwriting and starring as one of the leading roles in the acclaimed TV4 series LAJKA, which was nominated for "Best Comedy" at the Kristallen Awards in 2022 (Swedish Emmys). Her ability to craft engaging and compelling narratives was also evident in the Viaplay series LEVA LIFE, where she served as co-creator and episode writer.

LEVA LIFE was similarly nominated for "Best Youth Drama" and "Best Original Idea" at the Kristallen and Riagalan Awards respectively. Both series are set to premiere their second seasons in 2024. In the new season we get to follow the group of friends who take on new challenges in the influencer world, while a love drama threatens to break up the friendship.

In addition to her acting roles in series like Netflix's PEOPLE WITH ANXIETY/Folk med Ångest and the Spotify podcast drama STAMMIS, Vera is currently in development with a project for major global streamer, as well as co-creating, writing and starring in a significant drama project for a major television network, together with Felicia Danielsson.

Vera's work is rooted in a quest to understand human nature and behavior in different contexts. Whether it be a dysfunctional family, a mis-matched first date or an influencer mingle.
