LIV MARI MORTENSEN is a director and screenwriter based in Oslo.
Liv Mari’s latest projects includes the successful and critically acclaimed Norwegian drama series “Etter lørdag / About Saturday”, as creator, screenwriter and director for TV2 Norway, produced by Maipo Film. The series won Best Short Form Series at CannesSeries 2021.
“Etter lørdag / About Saturday” portrays Klara (22), a podcast influencer who is challenged to go on a date with a random guy, and the evening ends badly. How will she shake off the incident when her body is working against her and her flatmates start to get worried? The series premiered in 2021.
Currently, Liv Mari is writing and developing two feature films supported by the Norwegian Film Institute, more information to come.
Liv Mari’s work explores themes such as power and identity, through poetic realism. Her early interest in theatre has lead her to a passion for directing actors. She is drawn to projects that question our society and the world we live in, challenging our values and preconceptions. She often finds interest in telling a story through multiple perspectives.
She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Film and TV direction from The Norwegian Film School, where she developed a pilot for the drama series "Breaking in / Innbrudd". The series centers around a burglary and the consequences that follow from two different character perspectives. Liv Mari has also studied Direction at Westerdals Oslo ACT and Screenwriting at the Alma Screenwriting Education.
