TARA AFLAKI

Tara Aflaki (b. 1999) is a poet and a critic whose love for literature is expressed through a constant search for knowledge and the breaking of boundaries. The kid from the big city kid who travels around the country and wins hearts wherever she goes.

As a poet, she has devoted herself mainly to Spoken Word but has also written and published shorter pieces, poetry and other texts in literary magazines such as Lyrikvännen. Tara has studied History of Ideas and Literature whilst working on stage performances and the writing that takes place behind the scenes.

In the summer of 2022, she was the guest editor for the magazine Mana. As a literary critic she writes for, amongst others, the Finnish-Swedish magazine Horisont.

Since 2020, Tara has been active as the Artistic Director of Teater Medusa, whose first performance, THE MEMORY PALACE, examines the psychic division in a woman's consciousness that arises when a choice regarding love or freedom becomes vital and possibly life-threatening. One abstract, dreamy depiction of a woman's darkest innermost being. This was performed at Kulturhuset’s Lava library in the autumn of 2021. The theater has also devoted itself to Performance art, including at The Book Fair in Gothenburg and Vardagsrummet in Bromma, and participated in the international radio theater festival TRANSMISSION with the work NONE. Tara has also participated in Kollision at Inkonst in Malmö, an interdisciplinary collaboration whose purpose was to promote creativity and queer art.

Tara is currently working on her debut novel.
